Perhaps a little naive, she thought she could defy the laws imposed by the gods, and deceive them.
Guest of a palace where Cupid had brought her to love her every night, she breaks the only rule to which she owed obedience. With fatal curiosity, he decides to illuminate the face of the mysterious lover, revealing the identity of the god who, in anger, flees and abandons her.
The life of Psyche does not end here, but it's reported in great detail in the Metamorphoses of Apuleius.
