And what would it be like to be a Patrician, a noble and powerful political and economic figure of the Serenissima?

Paolo and Francesco Contarini had long wanted a home that reflected their social importance, which above all demonstrated the importance of rural activity for the family. Andrea Palladio was commissioned to transform the ancient castle in Piazzola sul Brenta, in the Padua area, into a solid and eternal country residence, Villa Contarini.
It is to Marco Contarini, however, that we owe the expansion of the mansion towards a real Renaissance Villa, a great stage where to show the thousand amusements and delights of the noble lifestyle. The family thus established its role also on a social level and demonstrating, in a continuous struggle with its peers, that the nobility also knew how to enjoy the moments of leisure and the beauty of the places they lived.
