On this same day, November 30th, but 514 years ago, in Padua, I, Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, was born into a humble artisan family.
I still didn't know that my life would become so prolific and important for all architecture to come.
I was just a humble stonemason, until I met the person who would become my mentor, Giangiorgio Trissino: it was he who gave me the name for which I would be known by everyone, who educated me and made me gain knowledge that I never could have. entertain in the high ranks of society.
I soon began to be requested by the most noble families and to design my works for them not only in Vicenza, but in Venice and throughout the hinterland "State of Tera", then collecting my knowledge and experience in my Four Books of Architecture, through whom I would be known in the old and new world.
However, I would never have imagined that I would be considered the most important architect of the Venetian Republic and that my works would be an inspiration for architects of the centuries to come.
Just over five hundred years old: in this light, I am still young!
